Hero of the Olympics in Vancouver: biathlete Yevgeny Ustyugov - 35

June 4 marks the 35th anniversary of the titled Russian biathlete Yevgeny Ustyugov. He was born in Krasnoyarsk into a sports family and got to skiing early, but at first he rode them for his pleasure. In 1997, coach Yermakov noticed him and persuaded him to go to biathlon. Ustyugov's debut at the World Cup stages took place at the beginning of the 2008/09 season, and a year later the first victories followed, allowing him to finally gain a foothold in the national team. The athlete confirmed his status at the Olympic Games 2010, having won gold in the mass start and bronze in the relay. In the same disciplines, Ustyugov became the silver medalist at the 2011 World Cup at home.
