Athletics National Games for junior and senior high school students to be held in October 21:03 on June 4th

Due to the spread of new coronavirus infections, student sports competitions were canceled one after another, and the Japan Athletics Federation has decided to hold a national competition for middle and high school students in October.

On land, due to the spread of the infection, the national middle school physical education competition and national high school general scheduled for August were canceled one after another, and athletes and leaders were calling for alternative competitions.

Regarding this, the Japan Land Federation has decided to hold a national competition in October for each middle and high school student to participate in the board meeting held on the 4th.

Specifically, the middle school competition will be held from October 16th to 18th at Nissan Stadium in Yokohama City, and the competition for high school students will be held from October 23rd to 25th at Edion Stadium in Hiroshima City. It is said that the policy is to target athletes who have a national level record in the event.

In addition, it is said that the measures will be implemented based on the JAAF guidelines to be announced in the future.

Mitsugu Ogata, Executive Director of the Japan Land Association, said, “I think the cancellation of the national convention was a pain that adults could not imagine, but I hope it will be an opportunity for children to take a positive view. We want to create a place where we can show the results of our training."

The total number of high schools in Japan, which has been cancelled, is spreading, with nationwide alternative competitions planned for fall as well as archery and fencing.
