Thierry Henry took his time before reacting. In a message published Tuesday evening, he finally delivered his thoughts after the death of George Floyd who ignited the United States. "It would have been easier to write with emotion," said the former striker for the France team, but he wanted to "describe his feelings eloquently."

"Why does this still happen in 2020?" He asked himself first. Why can the same racists applaud an ethnic minority playing for their team and violate the same minority once on the street? Why doesn't everything we put in place to eradicate this from our societies work? "

Henry accompanied his text with a photo of him kneeling on the ground, a protest gesture made popular by NFL player Colin Kaepernick in 2016. Many sportspeople - and American police - displayed themselves in solidarity these last days.

"It has been going on for too long and things have gone way too far," adds the Impact Montreal coach, who concludes: "We have an urgent NEED for change, we REQUEST a change, and above all, we DESERVE a change. Make it happen. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH ".
