Fis works on alternative plans unless the World Cup competitions in skiing can be carried out as planned due to the corona pandemic.

Now documents marked Plan B have leaked to the Finnish site Kestävyysurheilu. It shows an alternative World Cup schedule where the season is divided into four blocks where the competitions are decided on limited geographical areas to reduce the amount of traveling.

Sweden, which already has World Cup competitions in Ulricehamn on January 16-17 and Falun on January 30-31, can receive three competition weekends between January 23 and February 7.

- I don't know exactly how it will look in detail. But all the possibilities presented are current. There may be competitions in three countries or only in one. It is impossible to say what will happen until the beginning of next year, so you try to have as many alternatives as possible, says Niklas Jonsson in the length committee, to Expressen.

Jonsson says that the most realistic, if only Sweden gets the races in the third block is that Falun and Ulricehamn run an extra race by extending the competition weekend by some day.

If Plan B is put into practice, Germany and the Czech Republic will have no World Cup contests this coming season.
