The original proposal from the International Football Association, Fifa, came three weeks ago because of the corona pandemic and the increased risk of injury that a compressed game schedule can bring.

It was then up to each league to decide whether to introduce the rule or not, and it was pushed through on Thursday night.

Five player exchanges, at a maximum of three exchanges, will now be allowed for matches in the ladies', elite, all-Swedish, super-one and one during the 2020 season (including qualifying) and at the remaining matches in the Swedish Cup (men's) 2019/2020.

As a consequence, it has also been decided that five players per team may warm up simultaneously during an ongoing match.
