Fis has for a long time worked against a total ban on fluoride, which has been debated for several years. The ban must be introduced for both health and environmental reasons. However, a ban would go against EU law where a restriction on the dangerous substance PFOA is to be radically restricted in fluorine products from 4 July 2020.
Walla manufacturers have adapted to EU limit values and oppose a total ban.
"We want to take responsibility"- It is important to understand that we are not in any way negative towards the environment. We want to take responsibility. We do not want to destroy the environment but vice versa. But on this issue, Fis has not understood what it is about, says former national team star Christer Majbäck, who now owns the whaling company Skigo, to Expressen.
The manufacturers had a video meeting on Tuesday where they decided to sue Fis if the ban is pushed through.
"Then it becomes a great pity for cross-country skiing," Majbäck tells Expressen.
