UEFA has decided to postpone a meeting of its executive committee originally scheduled for May 27 until June 17 due to questions "still open" concerning "a small number" of host cities for the football tournament postponed to 2021 , the proceeding announced on Monday. The European Confederation postponed this meeting of its executive "because of the existence of points still open concerning a reduced number of host cities" of the tournament, she said in a statement.

The European football authority had announced on March 17 the postponement of one year of Euro 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic. The competition, which officially retains its name of Euro 2020 in the eyes of the organizers, must now take place from June 11 to July 11, 2021. This 16th edition of the European Nations Championship is scheduled in 12 cities from 12 countries, with a kickoff in Rome, Italy, one of the countries hardest hit by coronavirus.

Doubts about three cities

But this new programming seems to pose some problems for certain host cities. “The idea is that we stay in the same cities. We have spoken with nine cities and everything is settled. But with three cities, we have problems, "admitted UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin of Slovenia last week in an interview with beIN Sports.

"So we will continue the discussions and in principle we will maintain (the Euro) in 12 cities. If not, we are ready to do it in ten, nine or eight ”cities, he added.
