No qualification for the US Open in September

The US Open has already been affected by covid-19, when the tournament was moved from June to September.

Now comes the next coronary-related decision: the qualification for the major competition is completely abandoned. The United States Golf Association, USGA, announced on Monday that the starting field will instead be selected based on past results and a special exception rule.

For example, all golfers who have won the US Open over the last decade and top ten from last year's edition will be guaranteed a place.

The United States is one of the countries most affected by covid-19. Nevertheless, society is starting to open up again.

The Gulf is slowly recovering from quarantine during the virus outbreak. In mid-June, the PGA tour is scheduled to resume, though without an audience.
