Cristiano Ronaldo and others will have to wait a little longer than expected. Monday, May 18, the Italian Football Federation officially suspended until Sunday, June 14, including all of its competitions, which seems to condemn the possibility of seeing the Serie A championship resume on Saturday, June 13 as the League wished.

In a press release, the Federation explains that it has complied with the provisions of the decree issued on Sunday by the head of government in the context of the fight against the coronavirus. This decree provides in particular for the suspension until June 14 of all sports competitions.

In the document it publishes, the Federation specifies, however, that this choice was made "pending a new and desirable decision by the competent authorities", which suggests that the possibility of resuming the championship on 13 June still exists.

New health protocol

Last week, the Lega Serie A, which brings together the 20 clubs of the first division, had indicated wanting to resume on that date the championship interrupted on March 9.

A meeting is planned in the near future between Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte and the leaders of the Federation and the League. The Technical and Scientific Committee which advises the government must also give in the coming days an opinion on the new health protocol proposed by the world of football.

This new version, less strict than the first, no longer provides for 15 days in the green when resuming collective training, or collective quarantine in the event of a positive test by a player or a member of staff.
