On March 20, the message came from the government: a support package of SEK 500 million is set aside to compensate the sports movement as a result of the corona pandemic.
During the period May 1-15, sports associations and special sports associations have since had the opportunity to apply for compensation support - and now comes the verdict on the total number of applications: 4064 sports associations and 49 special sports associations want financial compensation.
But how much money each association and union can expect is too early to say.
- Now a solid and difficult work is waiting to handle the applications and then work for the National Sports Board to be able to decide on the distribution of support on 11 June. How big the need for support is in total applied for SEK, we must come back to because not all applications have been processed yet, ”says Björn Eriksson in a press release.
Most applications come from football, equestrian sports and floorball. Municipalities where the largest number of associations sought support is not so unexpected in the metropolitan municipalities of Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö.
