Last Friday, the disappointment was great on the part of football, as the Public Health Authority did not give any notice to the football when they can resume their activities in the form of competition matches. Instead, the message was that it is not possible to change the general restrictions and that a general message for the sport will be taken the first week in June.

But the Swedish Football Association together with the interest organizations Swedish elite football and Elite football women still hope for an earlier message.

- It is clear that we have hopes for that. We think that the medical protocols we have worked out are a very good pattern for football and for the sport as a whole to be able to get a restart as soon as possible. Germany had a similar approach and according to the reports I received, it has worked very well this past weekend, says Karl-Erik Nilsson, chairman of the Swedish Football Association.

What does it mean that Germany has now managed to restart the season?

- Of course it is good for us that the big German league was able to handle the return in a very good way. But the cloud of concern that the Public Health Authority had with large supporters' gatherings was also avoided. Everyone took their responsibility, and it is basically very positive.

Worried about the football

Karl-Erik Nilsson is worried if football can't get a message very soon.

- It is clear that it is worrying that we are not informed. It would be incredibly worrying if we could not get started, and it would have serious consequences. Exactly in detail what the consequences are difficult to overlook at present, but many club and union leaders are concerned right now, given the lack of information. If we can get started as soon as possible, it would provide significantly better conditions.

How do you work forward to get an earlier message?

- On Tuesday, the Federal Board has a meeting to review the current situation. There we will decide whether it is appropriate to make further contacts in addition to those we have made. Otherwise, we start from the work we have with the National Sports Federation to try to influence the Public Health Authority so that they change their advice and guidelines. We want a message as soon as possible.
