Amiens midfielder Thomas Monconduit was Lionel Rosso's guest on Europe 1 Sport. The opportunity for the player to return to the news of his club, which struggles in the legal field not to go down, but also to take a look at his profession, far from being exemplary during the Covid-19 crisis.

INTERVIEW

Thomas Monconduit is caught in pincers. His club, Amiens, was relegated to Ligue 2 following the stoppage of the championship, a decision which "shocked" him, "disappointed him", but at the same time, the 29-year-old player believes on Europe 1 that the French football "did not give a very good image" of him during the crisis that hit France. "There is nothing to see the comments, we are much criticized for the way we communicate. It makes me sad, because the discussions of recent times, it is battles of millions and I think it there are things more important than millions, there are lives at stake ", deplores Thomas Monconduit. "Communication is not very good. This period could have shown that football is united, and I have the impression that we are doing the opposite, it's a shame."

"We have good salaries, we have to put things in perspective"

The player born in Drancy and passed by AJ Auxerre requires a little more restraint. "The period is difficult afterwards, you have to put things in perspective, take a step back. We only play football, we must not lie, we have good salaries. Admittedly, it's complicated footballistically speaking, but I think that there are worse than us at the moment, "he recalls on Europe 1.

If he obviously wants football to resume its rights with an Amiens maintained in Ligue 1, Thomas Monconduit watched the resumption of football in Germany, and what he saw did not necessarily please him. "Seeing the masked people on the bench, I find it a bit bad. Knowing that this same masked substitute will return to the field and start marking an opposing player on a corner… it doesn't make sense" , he believes. "It's not football that we like, empty stadiums, masked people, players who hardly celebrate their goal. But unfortunately if we have to start like this, we will do it."

He does not know if he will still play at Amiens next season

And it is not certain that Thomas Monconduit applies the barrier measures on the side of Amiens. "I don't know yet if I will still wear this jersey next season," he admits. "A year ago my wish was already to perhaps leave to have a new project, I will see this year the opportunities that I would have. I must discuss it with the president and the sporting director." If he does not necessarily target a club at the top of the table, his preference still goes to Ligue 1. "Once we have known Ligue 1, we would like to stay there," he explains. "The moods and the fervor are totally different than in Ligue 2. What I'm looking for is the living environment."
