Next season, Petter Myhlback will head the team. He has a background as an elite skater when he went to the Sapporo World Championships in 2007. After his career he has worked with leadership and he has also worked for a Norwegian ski team and is a ski gym coach in Trysil.

- I come into an industry full of skills and knowledge. I have never been in a whaling team at the World Cup level and I think you need to come in and be extremely humble about the excellence we have in the team. There is a history of extreme success and I think we should be able to screw things up to make it even better, ”says Petter Myhlback, new ballroom manager for the cross country team.

What will your exact role be?

- After all, I will lead the whaling team so that we get a functioning business. At the start of the World Cup season, I need a lot of support from my employees. Anders Niemi (former election manager) will be an important part of that particular role.

Criticism of the herd

Last season, the wall team, with Anders Niemi as wall manager, stood for several unsuccessful efforts as the Swedish riders often had worse material than their competitors. Now the wall team will take a turn with Petter Myhlback as manager and "super coach" Perry Olsson who strengthened the national team.

- During my first week, I talked to everyone on the team and many of the riders in the A-national team. I had long conversations with them and there was a great need from all parties to talk and try to get better, says Petter Myhlback and continues:

- But exactly what went wrong and what happened, my team knows. These people are so extremely engaged, but you may not have communicated work that is actually conducted after a poppy miss. The Vallatrailar is on a high tide after a miss and we may need to communicate this to the hauliers which work we are actually doing.

Useful experience

Petter Myhlback believes he has the advantage of his new job that he was previously an elite rider.

- I can talk to the riders to create confidence in a good way. Then I have many years of experience in leadership where I have worked to bring together staff groups and move towards clear goals. In this case, the goals are extremely clear when it comes to taking gold medals at championships.

The cross country team is heavily dominated by male leaders, and the whaling team is no exception.

- Right now the team consists of me and four people full time. But the people we will take on assignments during the winter, there are women on that list.
