The relocation of the Tokyo Olympics has already become an economic blow to the host country Japan, which expects the move to cost many billions of kronor.

The IOC therefore disregards SEK 8 billion for loans on costs that the corona pandemic has contributed to.

The SEK 1.5 billion, $ 150 million, which is set aside for loans to national Olympic committees has been developed with the aim of covering up for lost income that unions and athletes are losing as they move. This means that the Swedish Olympic Committee will have the opportunity to access this money.

What the other 650 million dollars will be used for is not yet determined.

"It's a little premature to say what the expected and unexpected costs will be," says IOK's operational manager, Lana Haddad.

Before the Olympics were postponed, the host country Japan had estimated that the bill for arranging the games would land at approximately SEK 120 billion.
