A poll published by the German "ARD" channel yesterday showed that 56 percent of the population opposes the resumption of the local soccer league this weekend, in light of the continuing outbreak of the Corona virus.
Today, the Bundesliga will become the first major football tournament in Europe and the world to resume its activities in light of the "Covid-19" pandemic, which led to almost complete suspension of various sporting events since last March.
According to the referendum, 56 percent of Germans expressed their opposition to the resumption of the matches, despite being held behind closed doors against the fans, according to a strict health protocol developed by the League with the health authorities, while 31 percent of the respondents agreed to this.
In addition, 40 percent expressed their support for easing restrictions imposed on the population, but 45 percent of those questioned the possibility of resuming the league, while the move received support of 40 percent of this percentage.
The rest of the respondents did not express an opinion on the matter.
The German channel indicated that the poll was conducted by phone on May 12 and 13, and included a sample of 1074 people, with a margin of error between 1.4 and 3.1 percent.
