The Corona pandemic has paralyzed the world for a couple of months, and the international professional tennis coach is waiting for a message about when it can start again. The International Tennis Association announced just over a month ago that all games on all tours, such as the men's ATP and the women's WTA, have been stopped until July 13.

But Sweden's Davis Cup captain Robin Söderling believes the competition ban will be extended.

"Pretty incredible"

- The Swedish Open week in Båstad would be the first week, but when I think about it ... It will fly in players and officials, people from all over the world, and gather in one place. Unfortunately, I personally think it will be very difficult, says Robin Söderling.

- But that's just a feeling I have. It actually feels pretty incredible.

The 35-year-old's own everyday life in his work as captain of the Swedish DC team, which is qualified for the playoffs in Madrid, he describes as very special. No competitions to watch and no official training opportunities. Sweden's top players keep going on their own, based on the restrictions in the countries where they are located.

Still hopeful

TT: Do you feel any extra stress?

- The uncertainty is a little difficult. Will it start in a few months? Will the whole season be canceled? It's a new situation and it's not so much fun. I would not say stressed, in any way it is the same for everyone, but there is no guarantee that it will even be a Davis Cup in November.

Söderling only laughs when asked what he believes.

- November is pretty far away anyway, so yeah. But that's a guess. I have no idea what's going on with this virus. If it starts to get checked, or if there is a second wave. There are a lot of competitions before the playoffs, it is right at the end of the season, so it is positive. But I actually have no idea at present. You still have the plan that it will be played, he says.
