Following the announcement that the European Football Championships will move from the summer of 2021 to 2021, it has been uncertain whether Denmark will be able to arrange the four matches that were planned to be played at the Park in Copenhagen. Much of the concern has been due to the first three stages of the Tour de France 2021 being arranged in Denmark.

- I'm still worried about whether we can play the matches in the Park. As things stand now, it is "fifty-fifty" if we are to succeed in playing the matches, DBU chairman Jesper Möller told DR two weeks ago.

Contract concluded

But today came the message: Denmark will be able to organize the matches, and the three Tour de France stages to be arranged there. The Danish Football Association (DBU), the City of Copenhagen, the European Football Association (Uefa) and ASO (which organizes the Tour de France) have, after a number of meetings, managed to conclude agreements that secure the arrangements.

- My biggest wish has been for Copenhagen to host both the European Championship and the Tour de France next summer. It now seems to succeed! We can now look forward to a fantastic summer in Copenhagen next year with a lot of party and community - which is what we look forward to most now, says Copenhagen's mayor Frank Jensen in a statement on DBU's website.
