Nine out of eleven districts responded to the questionnaire sent by SVT Sport to all districts within the Swedish Figure Skating Association.

When asked if districts have confidence in the figure skating association, four have answered no, one has answered in part and four districts have answered yes.

One of the critical districts writes to SVT Sport:

"Swedish figure skating has never been at such a low level sporting and organizational - but above all ethical and moral."

Abuse reports

Over the past year there have been several reports of mistreatment in Swedish figure skating. Earlier this year, among other things, a Swedish trainer for mental abuse and weight was dropped against a 15-year-old JVM rider.

At the end of April, another top trainer was accused of weight loss after an audio file was published in Expressen. In the audio file, the trainer is heard criticizing a then 19-year-old rider for having gained weight.

Six out of nine districts have responded that there are abusive conditions, such as culture of silence, weight and mental abuse, in Swedish figure skating.

"Those who say it doesn't exist lie," writes one district.

Another district writes that it is not widespread, but occurs at the elite level.

“This is especially true for higher levels where it can be more or less normalized. However, we want to highlight that there are many associations that conduct a healthy business. ”

"Nothing we know"

Three districts have responded that there are no abuses.

"It's not something we know or have heard about," writes one of the three districts.

After the report of maladministration, the figure skating association appointed an external investigation. Due to the corona virus, the investigation is delayed but the plan is for the result to be reported in early June.

- There are associations where it does not work to 100 percent as it should and then we must find what we can do from the union's side to counteract such situations. This is also why we have this external inquiry to be able to see from the outside, what measures are required, said the union's chairman Katarina Henriksson last week.
