The Iraqi National Council gave confidence to the player and former international coach of the "Lions of Mesopotamia", Adnan Drajal, to take over the position of Minister of Youth and Sports in the new Iraqi government, headed by Mustafa Al-Kazemi, where Drajal was sworn in early this morning.

Adnan Darjal outperformed previous international players who were also candidates, including Sharar Haidar, Ahmed Radi and Basil Korkis and Ayoub Odisho, before being voted on.

The announcement of taking Dergal came through a press statement today, as Dergal is considered one of the most prominent players in the Iraqi soccer team, and led him to qualify for the finals of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 1984 and the World Cup in Mexico 1986.

Dergal succeeded earlier this year in forcing the Iraqi Football Association’s board of directors to submit his collective resignation, after uncovering the fraud file of the elections, which led to the intervention of the FIFA in this regard, to form the interim committee responsible for managing Current affairs of the Football Association.
