German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the 16 provincial presidents are meeting today, to give the green light to resume the Football League this month behind closed doors, after stopping since mid-March due to the emerging Corona virus.

Hours before a meeting later today, a draft agreement obtained by Agence France-Presse revealed that the political authorities will allow the return of the first and second class competitions on the 21st of this month, which will make Germany the first major national championship in Europe to resume the popular game competitions.

The draft agreement includes other aspects of the measures to reduce isolation in the country after the closure due to "Covid-19", including the reopening of shops, schools and others. And the draft stated that the establishment of matches for the first and second classes will be "in order to limit the economic damages" for the 36 clubs (distributed equally between the two grades) which is an "acceptable" idea from a certain date that will be determined during the meeting between the chancellor and the 16 German provincial heads, who have the word Chapter to allow the return of sports events.

After deliberating in the last days of the 15th of May to resume matches, the German media indicated today that the date is 21st of it, especially since the draft agreement states that "the resumption of competitions must be preceded by a two-week quarantine period in the form of a training camp in this case" .

The 18 clubs in the First Division have re-trained in the past three weeks, but in small groups with social spacing even on the field.

In the absence of any sudden development, the agreement will be approved at the meeting, which will make Germany the first country among the five major European championships to resume its activities.

Within the major tournaments, France was the first country to announce the closing of its domestic championship and to crown Paris Saint-Germain as the champion of the 2019-2020 season, while Spain, Italy and England hope to resume activity, but not before June.
