Barças team captain Lionel Messi and French national team star Antoine Griezmann were some of the players who appeared to arrive in their cars at the club's training center on Wednesday morning.

In Real Madrid, players such as Eden Hazard and Karim Benzema also underwent health checks at the team's facility.

The response from a corona test usually comes within 48 hours and the testing of players is part of the regulations that La Liga has developed and which the teams must follow before they can return to training.

"Weird Time"

Atlético Madrid are also starting to test their players on Wednesday, just like Swedish star Alexander Isaac's Real Sociedad.

- It's been a very strange time for us. It has never been so long for us without touching a football and we are eager to get started, says Atlético Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente.

- Every week we have received training programs sent to us, adapted for each player and I think we are ready to come back, he continues.

In the first phase, out of a total of four, players will then be allowed to perform individual training at the facility with a maximum of six players at the same time on the pitch.

The players should come change and wear gloves and mouthguards when they are not training. According to the regulations, players should then be able to train in smaller groups before it is possible for the whole team to train together.

Plans to start in June

In the fourth and final stage, which is scheduled to take place in June, the government has said that outdoor events that do not gather more than 400 people are okay.

La Liga hopes to be able to resume the season, before closed doors, in mid-June.

Spain is one of the worst affected countries in the world with almost 26,000 deaths due to the corona virus.
