The 23-year-old MHSC midfielder contracted the coronavirus last week before being hospitalized from Thursday at Arnaud Villeneuve hospital in Montpellier and being temporarily placed in an artificial coma. Junior Sambia is the first Ligue 1 player affected by the coronavirus. The South Korean Hyun-jun Suk, who plays in Troyes in Ligue 2, had become in March the first professional footballer officially positive at Covid-19 in France.

No recovery

The relay medium, a native of Lyon, had arrived in Hérault in 2017 from Niort. He is playing his third season in Montpellier, where he has never acquired a titular status.
