A couple of weeks ago, Börje Salming revealed to the NHL's website that in early March he was rushed to hospital in an ambulance because he had difficulty breathing and "coronal-like symptoms".

However, he was never tested for the virus so it is not confirmed if he was actually affected by corona.

- It was scary. I could barely breathe. It was horrible, Salming then told nhl.com.

- I thought I'd die. I really thought so. It was so bad. It's hard to describe, but I was so sick. Fortunately, the ambulance came and took me to the hospital.

"The virus is completely crazy"

But now the situation is much better. In a statement on the Hockey Hall of Fame's social media accounts earlier this week, he provided an update.

"As you can see, I'm fine now," he said, but then gave a sharp call to everyone who saw the clip:

- This virus is completely crazy. So what I want to say is that you all have to stay home and be careful. This is not something that is fun to suffer. When I was in hospital six weeks ago ... It wasn't fun. When you get this I couldn't breathe and - as you know - you die if you can't breathe.

1148 NHL matches

Börje Salming is one of Sweden's most well-known hockey players of all time and did, among other things, 16 seasons in the NHL club Toronto before finishing with a season in Detroit. In total, he scored 787 points (150 + 637) in 1148 NHL matches.

In 1996 he became the first Swede to be elected to the Hall of Fame.

SVT Sport has applied for Börje Salming.
