Coronavirus: Madeleine Malonga and judo will still have to wait before resumption

World champion, judokate Madelaine Malonga will not be able to resume normal training from May 11, the day of deconfinement in France. Contact sports do not allow the social distancing necessary to avoid the spread of the coronavirus. For RFI, judokate testifies to its daily life.

Madeleine Malonga, world champion in the under 78 kg category in Tokyo in 2019 will therefore have to wait before training again with a partner. For the moment, only individual sports are authorized to resume activities such as cycling or running.

Sport is secondary  "

I am not surprised and it is understandable to face this health crisis  ", explains Madeleine Malonga who started studying to be a nurse like her parents and her sister. What is happening in hospitals today is not entirely foreign to him. We are not ready to resume our former life  ," she said calmly. Even if judo is currently her job, Madeleine Malonga believes that for the moment "  sport is secondary  ".

A new point of progress will be made by June 2 to assess the conditions for resuming indoor sports and disciplines that require contact,  " said the Ministry of Sports.

Despite her patience, Madeleine Malonga does not hide the fact that all of this "is  starting to be long  ". So you have to talk and kill time. The European Championships as a goal

Madelaine Malonga still hopes that the European Championships, scheduled for the beginning of May in Prague, shifted for the first time in mid-June, then again postponed to the beginning of November, will indeed take place in order to find the competition and her kimono. The International Judo Federation has already suspended all of its competitions until at least June 30, 2020.

In the meantime, Madelaine Malonga, who is not lacking in humor, is certain that she will hear at the time of the recovery that the confinement: “It  was not so bad!  "
