Athletes in Spain have been unable to train anywhere other than at home since the beginning of March because of the corona pandemic that has shut down the country.

But Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez recently announced that, from next week, football players can start with individual training at the club's facilities.

Then La Liga will also start sampling players to see if they carry the new corona virus, a source within La Liga tells AFP.

After a player has been tested negative it should be able to resume individual training within 48 hours. It is part of the escalation phase that will take players from individual training to training in small groups and finally to normal group training. The entire process is expected to take around a month.

Hope to play in June

While France announced that the football season in the country is over, and that PSG becomes champion, all major sports institutions in Spain, including the government's sports ministry, have been convinced that the season will resume.

- I hope we can start playing in June. We have until June 28, La Liga president Javier Tebas told the TV channel Movistar on Tuesday.

There has been information in the media in the past that players, when they can start training at the facility, should change and wear mouthguards and gloves.
