After the World Cup in Ruka in early December, it took a while before Frida Karlsson competed again. The 20-year-old did not meet the ski association's health requirements and was forced to reduce the load for some time.

- With what happened last season, I have got one more support in my team around me, and that is the medical team and I am confident in that. And I have a lot more knowledge now than compared to a year ago, Karlsson tells SVT Sport.

What is it above all that you bring from that experience?

- To focus on putting all the pieces, it's not just about exercising. Care must be taken to manage recovery and diet as well.

And it works well?

- Yes, it works well.

"Will be a big highlight"

In addition to the medical team in the national team, the personal trainer in Sollefteå, Per Nilsson, has a key role in Karlsson's promotion to the World Cup.

- We are really focusing on quality in training now and are trying to tone down the hourly thinking that exists as cross country culture.

And the goal for the World Cup in German Oberstdorf next year is set high - not least considering that Karlsson last year struck with three medals.

- You do not want to make a worse championship I was saying. That is really the goal, I am aiming to do a very good job until then and I will make sure that it will be a big highlight next year.
