During the years as Swedish Confederation, Wolfgang Pichler led the Swedish biathlon to great successes. 2019 was his last year with the union. He then took the step to SOK where he worked with the biathlon association's new secretary general Rikard Grip.

- When you work with each other on a daily basis, you see. Rikard has strong opinions and knows what is required. He is fighting for what he thinks is important and is behind his ideas, he says.

- He will be a good leader. I support him and it is not easy to find a good secretary general.

"Like a football coach changing club"

That Grip has no background in biathlon believes Pichler is irrelevant.

- For me, that's no problem. It's a bit like a football coach changing club.

When Grip was the national team captain for the cross country team, he complained that the biathlon took a skier from the cross country team. How do you look at it?

- Lol. I have always done the best for Sweden. Now there are young athletes who may be looking at Stina Nilsson and think that biathlon is not so bad. The national skiing team has not owned the riders, they are young people and many of them had never reached the World Cup in skiing but instead did it in biathlon. It is always good for Sweden if we have both good skiers and skiers.

"Seems to be heading in the right direction"

SVT Sport has previously stated that last year Grip got fired from the ski association, which has been rewritten in several trips since then.

- The ski association has got new leaders and I hope they start working together and doing the best for Sweden. My feeling is that they have got good leaders. They may have had their problems, but from what I read and hear they seem to be heading in the right direction. Sweden is such a small country so it is stupid if we fight each other. It is better that we join forces and work together.
