  • A report communicated to the Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 clubs formulates very strict conditions for a resumption of training, first individual, from May 11.
  • The Team and Le Parisien indicate that the championships may not resume until August.

What if the Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 championships, stopped since the beginning of March, did not resume until August? This is what L'Equipe and Le Parisien indicate on Tuesday . At 3 p.m., Prime Minister Edouard Philippe will unveil his deconfinement plan. The head of government could announce to the National Assembly that sporting events would not be authorized before this date, even behind closed doors. The LFP would then adapt to this decision.

In the meantime, it is a 25-page document presenting the header of the association of doctors of professional football clubs (AMCFP) which agitates the small world of French pro football. Dated Saturday, these "recommendations on the Covid-19" have since been sent to Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 clubs and present in particular the four "sport stages of deconfinement".

After systematic tests, notably serological tests, medical examinations are scheduled from May 11 to 15 (cardiac, biological, psychological check-up). Then an "individual recovery" must be done over seven days, followed by "a recovery in small groups" for the same period, to lead to a "collective recovery" in late May.

The authors of the report recall well in the preamble that "this is not an authorization to resume training or competition but recommendations in accordance with government data".

Two to four meters distance between players

And these recommendations are drastic: thus, between two players, it will be necessary to respect a distance "of two meters at rest and four meters at exertion". The changing rooms will be reserved for players and staff only, all equipment from outside must be disinfected, as well as sports and medical equipment between two uses by the players, the hygiene equipment used will necessarily be disposable, the games rooms and must be closed…

Some players have already taken offense, especially on Twitter, following the example of Dijon midfielder Frédéric Sammaritano.

It is foolish to suggest such nonsense. Football is a contact sport. If we can't be in touch, it's simple, we don't pick up! Think of the victims of # Covid_19 🙏 and all the caregivers in contact with the disease ❤️ and you will quickly find the priorities! https://t.co/85HlOQapvl

And what about competition? "If the championship resumes, the performance of the teams will be impacted with increased risk of injury," says the document from the AMCFP which warns of the risks of playing every three days.

However, there are ten days to cram to finish the Ligue 1 season, plus a late match Strasbourg-PSG. Suffice to say that the 2019-2020 fiscal year is far from over, especially if the epidemic rebounds. The report thus recommends "the isolation and the fortnight of the team from three newly infected players". The L1 soap opera should bounce again this Tuesday afternoon, after the declarations of Edouard Philippe.
