The announcement was expected. It is now official: the Grand Prix de France of Formula 1 will not take place in 2020. The organizers of the GP du Castellet (Var) announce this Monday that they “take note of the impossibility of maintaining” the race, in because of the Covid-19 pandemic. It was to take place on June 28.

"The decisions announced by the state make it impossible to maintain our event," said Eric Boullier, director general of the Grand Prix, in a press release. Emmanuel Macron has indeed announced the ban on major events until the middle of July. The closure of borders within the Schengen area also prevents the movement of pilots, stables and spectators.

Tickets will be refunded

All ticket holders will be reimbursed, says the Grand Prix. The modalities will be specified in the coming days on the race website. Camping, shuttle or parking spaces will also be reimbursed.
