A total of 23 contributions in five different categories will be praised at the gala "Sports TV Awards 2020" for bringing sports journalism on television forward.

SVT has been nominated in two categories. One is the "SVG Europe Women Award for Diversity in Sports TV" for equal sports coverage.

- In the beginning, few people believed that an equal sports watch was a realistic goal. Today we know that it is possible and that it is a huge success factor with more own news, more live sports to broadcast, a greatly increased digital audience and great competitive advantages, says Åsa Edlund Jönsson, sports manager at SVT, and continues:

- A few years ago, we were met with skepticism when we talked about our work with an equal sports watch. Today, we at SVT Sport are highlighted as role models internationally and we are often in demand as lecturers at various broadcasters around Europe. We also feel that the success of the Soccer World Cup in France has created an even greater interest in the media for the monitoring of women's sports.

The second prize is called "One Planet Award for Sustainability in Sports TV" and rewards environmentally friendly and efficient sports production. In SVT's case for the productions from the alpine world championships in Åre 2019 and the biathlon world championships in Östersund the same year.

- I am incredibly proud of a small country like Sweden and a small company like SVT is a leader in production methods that are world-leading in creating a sustainability for the next generation of TV viewers and TV employees, says Adde Granberg, Head of Unit at SVT.

Earlier this year, SVT Sport was rewarded for their equal sports coverage when they received the Swedish Equality Award 2020.
