German press reports revealed on Friday that the Ministry of Labor had recommended that the players put medical masks on the football field, if the competitions returned as expected next month, after stopping for weeks due to the new Corona virus.
On Thursday, the Bundesliga League expressed its readiness to resume competitions for the first and second grades starting from May 9 behind closed doors in the face of fans and with the adoption of strict health measures, in the event of obtaining the green light from the health and political authorities.
The move is linked to a final approval, which is likely to come from a meeting between German Chancellor Angela Merkel and officials of various local provinces, to be held next Thursday in Berlin.
If approved, Germany would be the first among the five major national championships in Europe, which will resume the game after it stopped since mid-March. Germany is one of the continent's least affected countries, "Covid-19", and recorded about five thousand deaths, a relatively low number compared to countries such as Italy, Spain, France and England.
The German magazine "Der Spiegel" indicated on Friday that the Ministry of Labor has prepared a package of recommendations, including wearing the players "masks that do not fall off their face in the event of running quickly, or the upgrading of vertical balls or direct docks."
"In case the muzzle fell, the match must be stopped immediately," he added, and given that these gags will be wet by the perspiration of the players, "they must be replaced every 15 minutes as a maximum."
However, this recommendation received mixed reactions, although most of them are not in favor of it.
"Maybe (players) can run running a muzzle once, but not for consecutive times," Bild newspaper quoted Leipzig sports director Marcus Kroesch as saying.
"It is an interesting idea, but for me it is not applicable."
For his part, Bayer Leverkusen's physician, Karl-Heinrich Dietmar, considered that these gags would not be necessary, given that the League League intends to conduct periodic checks for players to reveal "Covid-19".
"The muzzle position is uncomfortable and hinders breathing (...) This will not work in football, but I do not think it is necessary. With the tests, the probability of injury will be very low."
German team doctor Tim Meyer, a participant in the special committee charged with looking into how to resume domestic league matches, also questioned the possibility of implementing a recommendation of this kind.
Mayer said: "There were also suggestions that players have to keep a separation distance between them when they line up against a free kick (...) but then, the game will become unoriginal from the viewpoint of the fans."
"I don't think anyone will accept that the players compete with masks," he added.
And "Der Spiegel" indicated that among the other recommendations made by the Ministry of Labor, quarantine the entire personnel of each team from the league in a hotel, throughout the period required to finish the matches of the current season.
The German football authorities hope to be able to finish the season by the end of June, knowing that the competitions stopped before the start of stage 26 (out of 34).
Previously, the players had different views on the idea of being isolated from their surroundings in the remainder of the season, while some felt that it would be difficult for them to stay away from their families for this period, others felt that this might be the only solution to being able to complete the season in a healthy way And safe.
