The Brazil and Italy stars who participated in one of the greatest matches of the World Cup football have gathered to contribute to the efforts of the South American country to combat the Corona virus.

Italy beat Brazil 3-2 in the 1982 World Cup thanks to the Paulo Rossi trilogy, to help his team overthrow a squad that included Zico, Socrates, Junior and Leandro.

Brazilian midfielder Paulo Roberto Falcao raised more than 4.5 million riyals ($ 859,270) with the help of a group of his former colleagues who recorded a video calling on fans to donate to fight the spread of Corona virus in crowded neighborhoods in Brazil.

Italy players who defeated the Brazilian team participated in a special video recording to contribute to the campaign.

Falcao, a former Roma player, asked his former teammate and close friend Bruno Conte to rally Italian players to register a message.

Paolo Rossi, Giuseppe Bergome and Claudio Gentile were among the campaign contributors.

"Italy and Brazil are competing on the field and united against the Coruna virus," said defender Franco Cozio.

The players of the two teams maintained strong friendships, and Socrates, Zico and Junior played Italian clubs after the 1982 World Cup.

In 1990, the players of the two teams participated in a repeat of the famous match, including the retirement of Junior in Pescara.
