Top cyclist Emilia Fahlin crashed hard in 2019 and has since invested in returning to the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Since the end of last year she is back in competition but despite that she is happy to have an extra year on her.

- It was almost the first feeling that struck me. That it is overwhelmingly positive for me. It feels very good to me, says Emilia Fahlin and continues:

- I was still planning to drive next year and feel good that last year was as it was with the injury. I have been able to recover from the injury now but just to be able to do that little extra, which you want to do at an Olympics, I will find more time and work on now.

"Have a small takeover"

But it is not only time that speaks for the Swede. Since she lives in Sweden, she still has to work out, which means that she has an upper hand over competitors in a number of different nations.

- Among other things, my team is France-based and they must not be out training. It is possible to do the training indoors but it will be very short and intensive training. It is difficult to do as much exercise indoors, both physically and mentally, and that means I have a small take on the countries that are not allowed to be outside, says Fahlin and develops:

- I think it will pay off in the future. Those hours that you get extra from being outside and think it's fun and nice, instead of me having to fight and think it's boring and lead to the training that some might do now.

Prepared for more changes

The season can be very tough this year as more races will be completed in a shorter and increasingly intense period. As it looks now, around 60 races will be squeezed in three months. But Emilia Fahlin is also prepared for change - again.

- Somewhere you have to keep that in mind that it is possible and prepared. But at the same time, you have to prepare for the season and if so, you have to motivate yourself that all the work right now instead will be for next year.

And should there not be any regular races at all this year, she is ready to test run some virtual races.

- I'm not completely alien to test and see to get a competition moment in the whole thing. I don't think I'd be good at it, but I'm open to trying. Continuing this for a long time is a fun way to compete.
