Börje Salming says she is grateful to be alive after the scary event in early March.

He was then rushed to hospital in an ambulance because he had difficulty breathing and "coronal-like symptoms".

However, he was never tested for the virus so it is not confirmed if he was actually affected by corona.

- It was scary. I could barely breathe. It was terrible, Salming tells nhl.com.

- I thought I'd die. I really thought so. It was so bad. It's hard to describe, but I was so sick. Fortunately, the ambulance came and took me to the hospital.

"Not fully restored"

After a day in hospital, Salming was able to go home and since then he has been in self-quarantine.

- I'm not completely recovered yet, but things are getting better. I'm trying to take care of myself and now I've started taking walks and cycling a bit.

- After going through this, I see things from a different perspective and am glad that I am alive.
