With the exception of last season, when Östersund organized the World Cup, the Jutlandian city has hosted the World Cup premiere for several years. But now the International Biathlon Association (IBU) announces that the upcoming season in the World Cup will instead start with competitions in Finnish Kontiolax, November 28-29.

The first week thereafter, the World Cup comes to Östersund where men and women run three competitions each, December 3-6.

Sprint, hunting starts and relay races are on the program in Östersund, which last winter organized a total of eight races spread over a little over a week.

The biathlon World Cup will be decided next season in Slovenian Poklereka, February 9-21, and the World Cup will conclude in Holmenkollen, March 16-21.

The past season was prematurely canceled due to the corona virus.
