Simon Pettersson is in Växjö at training camp and today they chose to organize a small competition. Then he offered a huge throw.

The 26-year-old threw his discus 66.93 meters. It was a new personal record with 54 centimeters - and the third longest throw in the world this year.

"Used to be in decent shape"

- Yes, it is fun to be able to compete after all winter training. And I usually stay in decent shape this time of year. Normally we are at training camp in the US this time in April, but it had to be canceled for obvious reasons, Pettersson tells Aftonbladet.

It is 93 centimeters above the qualifying limit for the Olympic Games, which is 66 meters.

- But unfortunately they do not apply. They made a decision on Monday to cancel the qualifying period for the Olympics. So right now you think they could have waited another week. But I was over the qualifying limit this summer too, so at least I did it once.

Fourth longest throw in Sweden

He threw 66.39 in September last year. In the Doha World Cup, Pettersson finished in ninth place.

66.93 means he is Sweden-four through all time. Daniel Ståhl (71.86), Ricky Bruch (71.26) and Stefan Fernholm (68.30) have thrown longer.
