The Tunisian Football Federation confirmed that it will resume the league matches as soon as the authorities obtain approval, completely rejecting the idea of canceling competitions this season, due to the Corona virus, and set the end of next May as a tentative date for the completion of the first and second division tournaments.

"The current arrangement or any other formula will not be adopted, to settle the coronation accounts and avoid relegation in the League Championship," Tunisian Football Federation head Wadih El-Jarry told Tunisian television.

He added, "I am optimistic about the return of the league after the month of Ramadan. In football, 200 million dinars are spent in the season, which is more than 70 million US dollars. We cannot waste all of this, so we have to find solutions."

The Tunisian Federation stated that if the league competition continues beyond June 30th, all players ’contracts will be extended until the end of the competition in its new history, not later than November 30th, which will delay the players’ transfer period until the next season.

He pointed out that "the Tunisian federation is studying the possibility of making protective masks" as masks "for players that allow them to play official exercises and matches with the same performance, without affecting the respiratory system or physical readiness."

Esperance tops the Tunisian league standings with 44 points, 10 points ahead of Sfaxien, after 16 rounds.
