Leader of the Zenith St. Petersburg game, French basketball player Andrew Albicy is confined to Paris, a period he uses to develop his talents on console. He tells his passion to Europe 1.

INTERVIEW

When all the competitions are canceled because of the coronavirus, when all the professional athletes are confined to their home, we take care as best we can. Basketball player Andrew Albicy, player of the France team and recent bronze medalist at the 2019 Worlds, takes advantage of the time spent at home to indulge his great passion next to the orange ball: video games. He recounts this daily newspaper, still focused on sports at the microphone of Europe 1.

"I've been in it since I was a child," says the leader of the Zénith Saint-Pétersbourg, who has returned to Paris. "I'm always on the console all the time, so I'm a real little geek." The dumbbells in the morning, the controller in the afternoon or even late at night: this is the program of the confined version Andrew Albicy, which is organized according to the video game.

A retraining in e-sport?

His communication agency put him in touch with e-sport professionals; Andrew Albicy is therefore rubbing shoulders with Michael Jordan and LeBron James on the console. "It's really good, we see what it takes to reach their level," said the basketball player. "I know I would never get to their level because I don't take enough time with them, but it would be nice if I could get close to it."
