• Ronaldinho: this was his confinement in prison

Former Brazilian soccer player Ronaldinho de Assis Moreira has left the " Agrupación Especializada " penitentiary facilities in Paraguay, but must continue to be " under house arrest " in the country, as Judge Gustavo Amarilla sentenced this Tuesday.

Ronaldinho, a former FC Barcelona player , among other great clubs, spent 32 days in prison after trying to enter Paraguay with false passports , allegedly. The former soccer player, world champion with his team, will remain with his brother - also detained - with police surveillance in the capital Asunción, ESPN Brazil reported.

Ronaldinho's lawyers, who also wore the shirts of PSG, Milan, and Flamengo, explained that the Hotel Palmaroga , located in the historic center of the Paraguayan capital, will be the site of house arrest for 'Ronie' and her brother.

In order for the judge to accept the "house arrest" requested by Ronaldinho, the Brazilian's lawyers have had to pay a total of 1.6 million dollars (1.47 euros) -through a Ronaldinho account- as deposit. This payment was decisive for the authorities to be favorable to the Brazilian.

In this way, the 'Golden Ball' of 2005 leaves prison after more than a month of stay. In those 32 days, Ronaldinho celebrated his 40th birthday and became popular in the penitentiary center for his matches with the rest of the inmates.

A hotel room for everyone

The former player and his brother each have a room in that hotel, where they will be subjected to police custody and prohibited from leaving Paraguay. The maximum preventive period in Paraguay is six months, although it is not ruled out that the case of some other favorable turn for the two brothers.

This after the judge of guarantees Gustavo Amarilla granted them the alternative measure of house arrest, which the Prosecutor's Office did not oppose either.

In fact, after the hearing at the Palace of Justice, Amarilla explained her resolution because the situation of the two defendants has changed "on the basis of the proceedings of the Public Ministry" and based on the expertise carried out on the phones of the two brothers.

The judge also referred to the position of the Public Ministry, in the sense that he did not find " punishable acts to expand against them in the use of those public documents of false content."

Amarilla himself had rejected in the second week of March the lawyers' request for access to ambulatory freedom or to house arrest of the two brothers in a mansion valued at $ 800,000 , which was also presented as bail.

Amarilla justified his refusal then because of a flight risk and the political dimensions of the case, which splashes over to the Migration Directorate and the Identification Department, which issues passports and identity cards.

Ronaldinho had come to Paraguay to open a casino , present an autobiographical book, and then support his image with a foundation that organized a social assistance program for Paraguayan children.

The foundation was chaired by Paraguayan businesswoman Dalia López , who received the former soccer player at the airport and is unaccounted for and is under international arrest warrant.

The businesswoman's lawyers assured that she processed Paraguayan passports for the two brothers through a private agency and that she is not responsible for the fact that they were false.

Ronaldinho's defense argued that these documents were a gift to which the two brothers, who were interested in establishing businesses in Paraguay, did not give much importance.

The accusation that weighs on the two brothers is the use of public documents with false content, with an expectation of penalty of up to five years in prison.
