The client of Chinanews.com on April 7th, ITTF announced the new holding date of the 2020 World Table Tennis Team Championships. The event is tentatively scheduled for September 27-October 4 in Busan, South Korea.

It is understood that the World Table Tennis Championships have been established for a long time and are the oldest and the most important event of the year. Affected by the severe situation of the spread of the new crown pneumonia epidemic around the world, the 2020 World Table Tennis Team Championship is one of many ITTF events that have been postponed this year.

Previously, after a discussion and decision by the ITTF Executive Committee, the postponement of the 2020 World Table Tennis Team Championships originally scheduled for March 22-29 was tentatively scheduled for June 21-28.

However, on March 29, the ITTF Executive Committee met again and decided to suspend all ITTF events and activities before June 30, 2020, and further postpone the 2020 World Table Tennis Team Championships.

The ITTF introduced that it has been working closely with the Korea Table Tennis Association and the representatives of Busan City to discuss the tentative date of the World Table Tennis Team Tournament. And agreed to negotiate other alternative dates if necessary.

The ITTF also said that it will continue to closely monitor the global epidemic situation with the Korean Table Tennis Association, putting the safety and health of participating players, coaches, fans, staff and relevant parties first. If the situation does not improve, the event holding plan may be further adjusted. (Finish)
