Former Spanish football star Xavi Hernandez and his wife, Nuria Cunillera, have donated 1 million euros to the Medical Clinic Hospital in Barcelona, to help fight the emerging corona virus, the hospital announced Saturday.
"Xavi Hernandez and his wife, Nuria, have donated 1 million euros to the epidemic of" Covid-19, "together we will arrive," the hospital said in a Twitter account.
"We and Noria support the battle against the Corona virus, which is being led by the Hospital Medical Clinic in Barcelona. Thanks to the donations the hospital receives, it has purchased the necessary equipment to treat the injured and for its health workers," Xavi said in a video clip posted on the official website of the Catalan hospital.
Xavi joined through this donation to the initiatives of many athletes in Spain, including Barcelona star Lionel Messi, Manchester City coach now and Barcelona, Pep Guardiola, basketball star Pau Gasol and tennis legend Rafael Nadal after they donated to fight the epidemic that claimed more than 124 Thousands of people worldwide today, including 11,744 in Spain alone, which after Italy has become the second country with the highest number of casualties.
