On Thursday, Japan reported having 3,300 people infected with corona and 74 dead. On the same day, 97 new confirmed cases were reported in the capital, Tokyo, which helped to find new places to set up a temporary hospital.

As the Olympics are postponed to next summer, the Olympic Village is unused. Yuriko Koike now announces that the village can be used to relieve the country's hospitals.

The Olympic Village is built to provide housing for 11,000 Olympians and 4,400 Paralympics in a total of 5,600 apartments. The 24 buildings are now unmanned and could thus be used as a temporary hospital.

- It is one of our alternatives, but the village is not finished yet. We look at opportunities that are available today and tomorrow, we look at the possible alternatives, one by one.
