Two rounds remained of the women's SSL when the Swedish floor association made the decision to cancel the season due to the spread of the corona virus. The Swedish floor association also made the decision to move down the two teams that were under the line, Dalen and Skoghall. This despite the fact that Dalen only had two points up to Warberg, with two games left to play - and thus the chance to pass the contract.

Now IBK Dalen has appealed the decision to the National Sports Commission (Rin).

“According to IBK Dalen, the decision taken by the SIBF Board is clearly in conflict with the applicable rules. The fact that led to the decision not to play the series clearly - a decision that is not in dispute in itself - cannot justify the decision to move down the IBK Dalen. The decision is formally and materially inaccurate, ”they write in their appeal, claiming, among other things, that disputes occurred in connection with the decision:

“In the present case, Member Lena Larsson participated in the decision of the case. Lena Larsson is formerly chairman of Skoghall's Innebandyklubb (Skoghalls IBK) and is currently a member of the board of directors for the said club. During the 2019-2020 season, Skoghall's IBK was a seasonal competitor to IBK Dalen and Lena Larsson should therefore be considered to have been disputed in this case, "writes IBK Dalen.

Pointing to the handball association

Since Dalen still had the chance to stay in the series, the club believes that the series should have expanded, and gives examples of other unions that made that decision:

“The Swedish Handball Association used this approach in its corresponding decision regarding the up and down of teams. The Swedish Volleyball Association also recently announced that all teams that have a theoretical opportunity to take a qualifying spot, both upwards and downwards, are given the opportunity to play at a higher / equal level, ”they write.
