“An infected coach and athlete drove into the base”

Information that one of the athletes at the base in Novogorsk is ill with a coronavirus appeared on Thursday afternoon. And literally after a couple of hours it was officially confirmed by the director of the UTC Nikolai Domoratsky.

Later, the president of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics Irina Viner-Usmanova said that the head coach of the Russian gymnastics team Andrei Rodionenko and one of his wards passed a positive test. According to media reports, the rumble is about the winner of the Youth Olympic Games Sergey Naydin. The specialist himself did not refute the fact of infection.

"So what's next? Someone will find tomorrow, God forbid. That's all. Someone before, someone later. Such a time. I will not tell who they found, since we ourselves do not know. Doctors will say, ”Sportion Express quotes Rodionenko as saying.

At the same time, the Ministry of Sports previously ordered to close all training bases from March 29. "Novogorsk" was transferred to a "special mode of operation." According to Wiener-Usmanova, after a conversation with the country's leadership, rhythmic gymnasts were allowed to stay in the UTC, since they had not left anywhere since January. The company was made up of members of the country's national teams in gymnastics and synchronized swimming.

All those present at the base were tested for coronavirus, which gave a positive result in two people.

“Later it turned out that an infected coach and athlete drove into the base. They were immediately removed. They lived in a different building and did not touch us at all. We were also offered to leave, but I said that the children wouldn’t get away from here, because now I can’t throw them out into the street. They live in an enclosed compartment, in an enclosed space where their doctors, their cook, and we do not contact anyone at all. We take tests every two days and take them to the FMBA, ”R-Sport quotes Wiener-Usmanova.

At the moment, only the rhythmic gymnastics team is in Novogorsk. Gymnastics and synchronized swimming teams left the training center. A full two-week quarantine awaits them.

“Rhythmic gymnastics is completely isolated, they are quarantined together with the service staff, they were provided with food for five days. At the base there are 53 people: all rhythmic gymnastics and 11 personnel. We hold a double ring, do not let anyone in, the base is closed. The virus that arrived is from the outside, all the rules were observed. Most likely, the person picked it up even before entering the base. Moreover, everything is normal with health, there is no cough, the temperature is also fine, everything is fine with the sense of smell. But analysis showed coronavirus, ”explained Domoratsky.

If the virus didn’t bypass the gymnasts, then the synchronists managed to protect themselves from a dangerous disease, at least for now. This was told by five-time world champion Marina Golyadkina.

“I can’t say who got infected, but our team is 100% clean. All tests are negative. But we are forced to isolate ourselves and stop training, ”said the athlete.

“All training activities have been terminated, disinfection of the premises has been carried out”

A bit later, an official statement was made by the Ministry of Sports. They emphasized that in response to the appeal of "a number of sports federations", the transfer of the Novogorsk training center "to closed operation was prepared subject to strict adherence to special measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus."

The ministry also confirmed that according to the results of testing, COVID-19 was found in one athlete and one coach. The first was urgently hospitalized, and the second was "transferred to the regime of home self-isolation."

“At the moment, all training activities have been stopped at the Novogorsk training center, and the rooms have been disinfected. All members of the national teams in gymnastics and synchronized swimming left the base for self-isolation at the place of residence. All of them showed no signs of coronavirus infection. The Russian national rhythmic gymnastics team continues to remain at the base. Each of the team members is completely isolated and under medical supervision, ”the statement said.

They called and said that my test gave a positive result

Boxing became another sport that affected coronavirus in Russia. A positive test for COVID-19 passed the national team coach Anton Kadushin. March 18, he returned from London, and on the 25th he showed the first symptoms of the disease - the temperature rose and began to break in the body.

“The ambulance arrived, they did the test. The temperature at night rose to 38 degrees, of the symptoms was only a stuffy nose, there was no cough, shortness of breath and shortness of breath too. Against the background of temperature, my head ached very much. On March 28 they called me and said that my test gave a positive result, ”the specialist wrote on Instagram.

According to the trainer, he immediately signed all the documents necessary for quarantine, and his wife and daughter also passed the coronavirus test.

“Today I assess my condition as stable, the temperature jumps from 38.4 at night to 36.7 in the afternoon. It all depends on your immunity, think about the good and do not give in to panic, ”Kadushin added.

The Boxing Federation of Russia has already commented on what happened. The head of the FBI, Umar Kremlev, said that the coach was diagnosed with only a mild form of COVID-19. The functionary suggested that Kadushin could become infected by talking with colleagues from Armenia on the plane. At the same time, the boxers of the Russian national team underwent repeated testing for coronavirus, all tests yielded a negative result. Currently, the team members are on self-isolation, the course of which was told by world champion Gleb Bakshi.

“I responsibly approach this moment - I don’t go anywhere, I train at home. We kept in touch with Kadushin, his temperature rose and, following the recommendations of our doctor, he was called an ambulance. The test gave a positive result. Now I am constantly in touch with Anton. I am very worried and worried about him, I wish a speedy recovery. We are part of one team. In general, it’s scary with these events, but I think we’ll break through, ”said the athlete.
