The English championships, Wimbledon, the third major tennis championships that were due to start in late June, were canceled due to the outbreak of the new Corona virus, according to the organizers announced on Wednesday.

The All England Club announced in a statement after an emergency meeting, that it had decided with the championship management committee that is based on grass fields "to cancel the 2020 version due to public health concerns associated with the emerging epidemic of Corona virus, the 134th edition of the tournament will be held between June 28 and July 11, 2021".

It is the first time since World War II that the Grand Slam tournament is canceled.

Wimbledon is joining a series of sporting events that have been postponed or canceled due to the "Covid-19" epidemic that has caused the death of more than 43,000 people worldwide until today.
