"We want you to postpone matches, training matches and cups".

It was the words of the Director General of Public Health Johan Carlson at today's press conference on the coronal situation in Sweden.

Then the Sports Federation chairman Björn Eriksson followed suit.

- The basic idea and the assessment is that this (sport) helps to spread the pandemic. Then it is not reasonable that we compete further, he told SVT Sport.

A clarification is coming

The Swedish Football Association, in turn, hooked on and added the following "sharp recommendation" in its guidelines for operations under the corona.

"... sports associations should hold workouts and other sports activities outdoors, postpone matches, workouts, competitions and cups and limit the number of spectators."

Everyone seemed to agree that everything would be postponed, but then the Stockholm Football Association called Carlson for clarification and he said that they could continue their business.

"Training, matches or local cups do not need to be set up ... however, the activities may need to be adjusted to minimize the risk of infection spreading."

Because of this, SVT Sport called state epidemiologist Tegnell to ask what really applies and he says that clarification is to be expected.

RF: Coming new message, we must try it

- I know you have read this a little differently, so we come out with a small correction that opens for smaller training matches and such.

Then will cups and training matches be decided?

- Yes, as long as there are few spectators and you fix the pieces around. Hand washing is available and players are not allowed into any space.

So close contact during games is okay?

- Yes, then we interpret what we have written. We think it is very important that this continues.

Björn Eriksson at RF then awaits clarification.

- The message today was no matches, but if they take a new message then we must try it. They are medicine men and not me. If they are to provide clarification, it indicates that they have formulated themselves in a way that everyone has thought they do not want any matches, he tells SVT Sport.
