An official source in the Saudi Football Association hinted that the Saudi Professional League would resume either at the end of the current season or until the beginning of the next season, ruling that it would not be canceled except under compelling circumstances .

The Saudi newspaper Al-Sharq Al-Awsat quoted a well-informed source that it did not name the Saudi Football Association as saying that the Saudi league is a high-value league, financially and humanly, so it cannot be canceled, as happened to some amateur leagues .

He added that the current decisions to prevent curfews and suspend sports competitions in principle are until late April. And if the competitions return, the clubs need three weeks to prepare to return to the matches, and this means that the league is completed during Ramadan and the month of Shawwal, and then it will consider how and when the next season will be .

He pointed out that no one knows when the Corona virus crisis ends, and this means that the league may complete the next season, as all of this depends on the status of the virus, and what states decide, and the International Football Association (FIFA), whose decisions are awaited by all football federations in the world, especially Regarding the players ’contracts, will their salaries be reduced, and their contracts be extended for a certain period of time with their clubs, or not ?

He stressed that local federations cannot take detailed decisions without referring to FIFA and its continental federations .

The source pointed out that clubs and players will face difficulties during the next two seasons, whether financially or even organizationally, because their previous plans will change due to the circumstance that has swept the world, and football is not separate from the rest of the world .

Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper reported a few days ago that the Saudi Football Association had held a secret meeting to discuss the future of the Saudi Professional League, which was suspended due to the outbreak of Corona worldwide .

According to the same newspaper, officials have set time scenarios for the appeal, and the Saudi League needs 35 to 40 days to end its remaining eight rounds .

And in the event that the virus remained in its status without receding, the scenario that will be discussed is the completion of the local league starting from next August, which is an option that is expected to be applied in various periodicals of the world .
