Albin Ekdal: "Serious situation for Italy"

For just over two weeks, Albin Ekdal suffered a fever and headache. It was later found that he had become infected with the coronavirus.

- Then I and a few others in the team had to do a test with a tops in the nose to see if we were infected or not. The test showed that some players were infected, says Albin Ekdal to SVT Sport.

What did you think when you tested positive for the corona virus?

- Typical. Now I have to sit inside for at least two weeks and because I didn't feel so bad the symptoms themselves were not that painful but more to sit inside for weeks.

How has time been since then?

- I easily had a fever some days, headaches and joint pain. The disease itself I have not suffered so much more but more boredom and loneliness that have been the problem. There have been tedious days especially now at the end. There has been a lot of series and TV. I read some, cooked and sat in the garden when the weather was nice. The days go by, but it is getting very slow.

Now Albin Ekdal has started cycling and exercising light weight training in the home.

- Nice to get started a little after ten days with extremely little physical activation. What matters is that I have to take another test. If it is negative I can go outside the house when I can go shopping and the pharmacy. That's about what we can do in Italy. Most people sit at home waiting for better times, simply.

Italy has been hit hard by the corona virus. A total of more than 8200 have died of the virus, which is the most in the world.

- It is a very serious situation for Italy and you will notice that everyone is very taken by everything that happens. There are a lot of deaths every day and there is no fun situation right now.
