The Professional Players Association has requested urgent talks with the English Premier League and Football Association, to discuss the economic implications of the Corona virus.

With football stalled in England until at least April 30th, the clubs were hit hard by losing match day revenue, especially in the lower levels.

Birmingham became the first second-tier team to ask its players to postpone the salary, while fourth-ranked rival Forrest Green Rovers said he would resort to the government's wage subsidy plan to continue paying wages.

"Like other industries, the virus crisis has greatly affected the economic aspect of the game, and many clubs have contacted players to postpone the payment of salaries," the players ’association said in a statement.

He added, "In order to deal with this situation, we requested an urgent meeting with the Premier League and the League of Championships to discuss how we can move forward."

Earlier this month, the League Championships announced that it would support a short-term aid fund of about $ 60 million to help clubs at risk.

The Players Association indicated that it has cooperated with the Premier League, League of Champions League and Women's League to work on issuing training protocols to reduce the risks posed by the spread of the Corona virus.
