This is one of the big questions posed by sport in the midst of a coronavirus health crisis: what will become of the players and coaches whose contracts expire in June if the seasons are extended? According to a Fifa document on which the Reuters agency had its hand, the largest body of world football is working on an exceptional extension of the contracts concerned until the end of the domestic seasons which will in all likelihood be postponed until the summer because of the pandemic. This option will be discussed on Thursday.
To support this measure, Fifa is also studying the possibility of postponing the dates of the transfer window so that they are more in line with the new deadlines.
